Purchases & Refunds

Checkride.bot uses one-time in-app purchases (no subscription). All billing is handled by Apple.

How to request a refund from Apple

Apple processes all in-app purchase refunds. To request one:

  1. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. Find the Checkride.bot purchase and select Report a Problem.
  3. Choose the appropriate reason (e.g., "I didn't intend to purchase this") and submit.

Alternatively, open the App Store app → tap your profile → Purchase History → find the purchase → Report a Problem. Refund requests are typically reviewed within a few days.

What's included in each purchase

Each exam unlock (PPL, IR, CPL, ATP, CFI) is a one-time purchase. Area I of every exam is free — no purchase required to try. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any iOS device signed into the same account.

Microphone Access

Checkride.bot requires microphone access for voice conversations with your AI examiner.

Grant microphone permission

When you first start a voice exam, iOS will prompt you to allow microphone access. Tap Allow.

If you previously denied it, re-enable it manually:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll to Checkride.bot and tap it.
  3. Toggle Microphone to the on position.

Revoke microphone permission

  1. Open SettingsPrivacy & SecurityMicrophone.
  2. Find Checkride.bot and toggle it off.

Note: revoking microphone access will prevent voice exam mode from working. You can re-enable it anytime.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the free trial work?

Area I of every exam type (PPL, IR, CPL, ATP, CFI) is completely free — no account or payment required. Download the app, pick any exam, and start practicing immediately. You only pay when you want to unlock additional ACS areas.

Are purchases one-time or recurring?

All purchases are one-time. There is no subscription and no recurring billing. Once you purchase an exam, you own it permanently. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any iOS device signed into the same account via Restore Purchases in the app.

Which exam type should I choose?

Choose the exam that matches your current training goal: PPL for Private Pilot, IR for Instrument Rating, CPL for Commercial, ATP for Airline Transport Pilot, or CFI for Flight Instructor. You can purchase multiple exams independently.

The AI examiner isn't hearing me — what do I do?

First, check that microphone permission is granted (see above). Make sure you're in a quiet environment and speaking clearly toward your iPhone. If the issue persists, try force-quitting the app and restarting. If it still doesn't work, email us at support@aiviation.dev.

Is Checkride.bot available on Android or iPad?

Checkride.bot is currently iPhone-only. The voice-first experience is optimized for iPhone's microphone and speaker. iPad and Android versions are not currently planned.

How accurate is the AI compared to a real DPE?

The AI follows ACS-aligned exam flow and evaluates answers against current FAR/AIM references with citations. It's designed to be a rigorous practice tool, not a guaranteed predictor of your real checkride. Real DPEs vary in style — but Checkride.bot gives you the knowledge framework to succeed with any of them.
